Summary

LA Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong reportedly killed an op-ed critical of President-elect Trump’s cabinet picks, demanding it be paired with an opposing viewpoint.

The editorial, which criticized controversial nominees like Pete Hegseth and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was replaced last-minute by a Trump-sympathetic column.

Soon-Shiong has faced staff backlash for pushing a more Trump-friendly editorial stance, including rejecting endorsements of Democratic candidates and hiring conservative voices.

His actions are part of a broader trend of billionaire media owners softening coverage of Trump, prompting resignations and subscriber losses at major outlets.

With all the billionaires rushing to kiss the ring, the richest cabinet ever by a large margin, the media just rolling over at every chance it gets… it’s really hard not to feel like we’re already in full blown fascism, and this has all just been the preview.

I really hope I’m insane and paranoid.

Of course we are. ABC just settled a lawsuit from Trump, paying $6M into his presidential library instead of fighting it out.

Every media outlet knows they are going to lose either by fiat or by attrition with the full arm of the US government behind Trump.

You think they'd do this if Harris won?

Things aren't looking good. I still have hope that the CIA/military will intervene before he takes office, but not much. I'm hoping that when he completely screws the pooch with the economy, and the housing markets crash in a year or two, his own supporters will take him out,

If we're lucky the Republicans will have learned nothing, and will get mired in petty infighting and stupid bullshit political theater until the mid terms, and people are pissed enough to flip the house\senate. But the judicial appointments are going to put the shackles on future administrations, and progressive policy for decades unless the problem of extremist judges is addressed successfully

It's not impossible to get rid of these fascist judges, there just needs to be enough political willpower. I wish I was more hopeful about that willpower coming forth.

I have 0 hope about any internal action against Trump or Russian owned Reps. I've seen 0 action that would indicate the willingness for that.

When Trump crashes the economy his cult will just continue blaming Dems and the "deep state" someone in the administration (besides Trump) will be made into a scapegoat and it'll just continue on.

They're not going to intervene. I promise.

They should. But they won't. They absolutely won't. They've already made that clear.
