You have to be a little careful with what seems "obvious". Solar roadways had some enthusiasm behind them, but they turned out to have a lot of challenges:

That being said, I can't think of any reason why this is a bad thing. It does seem really obvious with no major drawbacks

But solar roadways were idiotic the moment they were announced. And people with the background knowledge said as much. Idiots just didn't want to listed and wanked to the hype

I remember when they were announced, everyone with half a brain and not directly linked to the companies making them thought they were stupid.

Similar to the company that is super keen to put fibre optics through the UK water pipes :|
