Most of people do not know what is a bloatware and do not care, they will simply continue to do what the trend and ads are telling them to do.

So if Amazon (or other GAMAM) wants to create a new need, most of people will follow. And in a fews years people like you (or me !) we will be considered outcasts. 😁

When a process happens again and again then it is not a malfunction, it is a norm.

It sounds like the half-dead creature is older than mine :D

Thank you for this valuable advice, the idea of writing came to me when an old aunt told me that she had started writing after the death of her mother. It had helped her overcome depression. And I must admit that I feel surprisingly good since I started writing !

You have a real commitment ! I hope to keep this motivation that is in me. I've heard good things about Scrivener. Unfortunately at the time there was no version for GNU/Linux... But I'll look at it again !

How does Joplin hold up with larger files?

To be honest, I don't know. I hope someone else will be able to answer this.

Recently I decided to start writing a science fiction novel. I reserved a desk in my room for this purpose, I also picked up an old Thinkpad X200 on which I installed Lubuntu 24.04 and plugged in a gaming keyboard for night writing. I chose to install a minimum of applications in order to stay focused.

My main writing App for the moment is Joplin

And you?

Are you writing a book or have you already written one?

What type of tool do you use to write?

Do you have some advice to share?

I don't understand why parents (or guardians) let their children have a smartphone when everyone is aware of the many threats that can be encountered on these devices.

Elected officials should be forced to go to their workplace several times a week by bike, this could greatly accelerate the improvement of roads for alternative means of transport. Do you agree ?

When we had time to chat with people on the way, to see the children playing outside safely, to meet smiling people despite the hardness of life...

To socialize through public roads, quite simply

But the merchants have created in us the desire to have these big steel quadrupeds (which are getting bigger and bigger) to ride alone...

And now humans cannot collectively escape this conditioning...

in some places we even see cars parked on the sidewalk without significant action from authorities. The dominated are always humiliated.

What to do when you don't fit into the norms of a deeply unjust society?

Are the methods used by Extinction Rebellion ultimately the right ones ?

Was recently watching this https://www.arte.tv/en/videos/115046-001-A/giuseppe-verdi-macbeth/

and got curious !

While you're here let me know what you think about it, your favorite version, etc... 😎

Very curious to know about it 😎 Do not be shy, just share it (no judgement).

I have found this app pretty well-made and useful. Please give it a try ✌.

Construtive criticism is welcome as usual !

Security assessment was done by Trail of Bits in November 2022.

SimpleX Chat features:

  • end-to-end encrypted messages, with editing, replies and deletion of messages.

  • sending end-to-end encrypted images and files.

  • single-use and long-term user addresses.

  • secret chat groups - only group members know it exists and who is the member.

  • end-to-end encrypted audio and video calls.

  • private instant notifications.

  • portable chat profile - you can transfer your chat contacts and history to another device (terminal or mobile).

SimpleX Chat advantages:

Full privacy of your identity, profile, contacts and metadata: unlike any other existing messaging platform, SimpleX uses no phone numbers or any other identifiers assigned to the users - not even random numbers. This protects the privacy of who you are communicating with, hiding it from SimpleX platform servers and from any observers.

Complete protection against spam and abuse: as you have no identifier on SimpleX platform, you cannot be contacted unless you share a one-time invitation link or an optional temporary user address.

Full ownership, control and security of your data: SimpleX stores all user data on client devices, the messages are only held temporarily on SimpleX relay servers until they are received.

Decentralized network: you can use SimpleX with your own servers and still communicate with people using the servers that are pre-configured in the apps or any other SimpleX servers.

You can connect to anybody you know via link or scan QR code (in the video call or in person) and start sending messages instantly - no emails, phone numbers or passwords needed.

Your profile and contacts are only stored in the app on your device - our servers do not have access to this information.

All messages are end-to-end encrypted using open-source double-ratchet protocol; the messages are routed via our servers using open-source SimpleX Messaging Protocol.
