Unhinged entry level employee screaming and swearing and threatening the CFO and spit in her coffee mug.

An email went out to the whole company telling us not to let him in the building before he even got back to his desk to be fired. This is a software company, not exactly the type of place that has armed guards, but the (ex-military) information security dude set up in the area packing for a few weeks after that.

A rather obtuse reference to removing the OtherOS feature well after purchase. I tried to adapt it to game terms, but admit it's a stretch.

Out of all the boardroom discussions, raising the price was actually the most consumer-friendly suggestion from Sony. Others included:

  • Deleting the original version from users' libraries.
  • Re-printing the original on disc, but including a rootkit.
  • Compiling a list of original version owners and leaving their personal details in plaintext on the web until they upgrade.
  • Downgrading the original to 480p, telling users the original graphics were just a bug, and selling the higher-res upgrade.

I keep wanting to think I'm an RPG kind of gamer, but in reality, all my favorites were from the SNES.

This is pretty typical. No movement for a few months, or even longer, then a flurry of activity over a period of a few weeks before another gap.

Just got a random message from a new account I suspect of being a bot or scammer.

But lemmy is still small enough, and has mods/admins that are less jaded and defeated than the bigger platforms, that there is a bigger pushback on the scams.

Every site has a critical mass at which scammers will be more motivated than the moderators. Reddit got too big, then shit all over the experienced mods. Double whammy.

Nintendo patents video game inventory system.

Not the onion.

(Not a patent lawyer, and I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but come on)

Trademark is generally industry specific, so you are probably technically correct. That may not be enough.

You can bet every Tupperware lawyer would be opposing that mark. You better have lots of money to spend years in court. Even when you're in the right, you can still lose.

The idea is that it gives moderate republicans a path to voting for her.

Without the endorsements, they would feel like they're betraying their principles and their party to vote D. With them, they can make a choice: Lots of rank and file voters will stick with Trump, but if a few party leaders, recently respected within the party, can vote for Harris, maybe that isn't such a betrayal after all.

Will it change the vote by 5-10%? Basically zero chance of that. But if it swings a few thousand voters in some strategic areas, it can make a difference. It's not a strategy aimed at very many people, but those votes on the margins matter.

I haven't pushed it anywhere near 10,000 km, so I should be good, right?

Right?

Sounds like just the publishing side was affected. Lots of other independent developers are kind of in limbo in the short term, which does suck.

Hopefully they can get out of any contracts and go to a publisher not associated with that family.

If the race were between The Literal Devil (R) and Jesus Christ (D), the vote total would be 45%-55% just based on the letter they choose to run after their name.

Policy doesn't matter when people base their entire personality on their political party identification.

Just because a 3060ti is technically capable of ray tracing doesn't mean I want you to keep turning it on every time the driver gets an update.
