I throw the goat at the kobold.

A real quote from a campaign we played, one of our first sessions.

Excellent! Thanks. Ill take a look at it sometime. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/818

Last time I checked, there was still discussion on how people want this to work. Because its easy to say, but hard to get everyone to agree.

I would love to get a fairphone. Its just 4x the price of everything else. I cant possibly afford it here in the US.

Community collections should be a thing. Something like /cc/Technology could pull in lemmy.world/ other instances and collections of communities. It makes it easier if one instance dies, an instance de-federates itself, or just wanting to consolidate all the different /c/Technology communities across instances.

It would also be nice if communities had the option to vote on their admins once in a while. Having individuals lord over different communities is a problem in reddit.

Ive done that but just wifi. It works. Its more of a "for fun" kinda deal. I cant get rid of my smart phone because of a couple of necessary apps for work.

The CPAP lockout is something I went through. The company behind my CPAP does not allow you to get ANYTHING off the device. But there is an SD Card that you can get all the info you want from your old system. Its arbitrarily locked out.

You are also unable to repair anything on the device without insurance getting involved. And insurance is often at OEM prices (think 200+ for a basic mask). Thankfully, people have illegally added STLs/chips/parts/etc... online that you can basically reverse engineer the entire device nowadays. As long as you use medical safe materials, it saves you literally thousands of dollars. Ive replaced quite a few parts and the device is still working after many years of usage.

Lately I have been having a lot of fun playing around with mestastic devices, older phones, and so called "dumb phones". I dont plan on getting rid of my current smart phone (at least any time soon) but I do want to see how it feels to go back to a dumb phone.

Anyone have a preferred dumb-phone setup that still works with 4G?

I want to be able to:

  1. Make/receive phone calls
  2. At least be able to see texting
  3. Replaceable battery
  4. (optional) some sort of directions (google maps/OSM+ etc...)

Things I have looked at:

  • Ive been looking at some of the new Nokia offerings and it looks like they are going full retro which I like. I just dont like how thin the plastic looks. It looks like the phones could die at any point.
  • I took a look at https://www.wiphone.io/ and that looked neat, but no GSM (phone calls outside of wifi) so thats a no go.
  • https://dumbwireless.com/products/punkt-mp02 looked almst perfect....then I saw you can repair the device or replace the battery.
  • https://dumbwireless.com/products/light-phone-2 looks nifty but again cant replace anything.
  • Sunbeam F1 Horizon might be a good fit given that you can take out the battery but the price is a bit steap.

What do you all think?

Im not sure what you mean.

Itch.io and GOG are great alternatives.

Sega genisis if we are talking real hardware. Followed by Gameboy.

Lately I've been loving my miyoo mini plus and steam deck combo. They are both retro game powerhouses.

It has had a huge increase according to the statistics. I wonder where they are getting their numbers from. Both fedidb and other sources say the number of users are only going up.

It's a couple months old but I like seeing new games for old systems.

My wife and I have noticed that all our computers today have been showing quite a few ads on youtube. We have ublock on just about every device and Firefox on a majority of them. Anyone else having the same issue?
