Bearing in mind the community you're posting in I wouldn't think they were suggesting the big streaming companies.

Kodi + (insertname)debrid or stremio+ (insertname)debrid .... either will let you stream torrents in much better quality than the streaming sites and no need to horde.

Also, i'm fairly sure there's some torrent clients that allow streaming of the torrent file, I'm not sure if they're still around but I think Vuze was one, I don't used desktops any more just mobile/tablet so my knowledge might now be out of date.

Private healthcare has got this covered

I've been using a variety of LibreTube and revanced on my phone and tablet as I only have mobile devices.

For the first time I opened a link which went to the native app, OMG it is unusable with ads.

If that's the expected way of using YouTube then I'm out, especially as I live in a location where I can't pay for Premium even if I wanted to

For what it's worth, I posted once on Reddit in the last year (and that was related to Sync shutting down) where as I've posted 4 times so far here.

I'm generally a lurker but perhaps the newness of it makes me feel that my posts won't be drowned out so it makes it more worthwhile taking the effort.

Iirc Kodi YouTube requires an API key.to.function correctly.

This is required due to YouTube's restrictions on anonymous API requests.

I'm 56 and play Minecraft and PUBG mobile.

As long as you're having fun I don't see why it should have an age limit.

Unless you're playing specifically children's games.

It's now come up in the search, wierd.

[–] hellequin67@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What I don't understand is if I search in kbin , lemmy.fmhy.nl instances appear in the search so why not the other way?

Confused.

Am trying to add !science@kbin.social but doesn't come up, I'm assuming kbin is not fully federated or because it's a different platform is there a different search method?
