I'd bet these fan projects lead to more sales of their garbage products, but these corporations don't see that because they want that licensing money now. Or they're just spiteful and vindictive like Nintendo.

Companies are finding new ways to monetize personal data, too often without proper notice or consent. ICYMI, three current examples that you may want to act on to opt out: PayPal, LinkedIn and 23andMe in c/privacy@lemmy.ml

Thanks for the reminder. I fixed these all already apparently, but didn't remember setting PayPal shopping privacy.

So I guess they learned nothing from the last class action lawsuit https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/lg-samsung-sony-class-action-alleges-smart-tv-privacy-violations/.
