Violence is often the solution, but it shouldn't be the first solution we try.
It's stupid to assert that law enforcement should be completely unarmed. There's absolutely legitimate situations where it's in the public's best interest. Now, the situations that do require it aren't super common, but they exist.

Blind 70 year olds can still be dangerous. Being blind and old doesn't prevent that.
They're not saying that offloading the responsibility to an algorithm is good, they're saying it's weird to assume a person is harmless based on nothing but two attributes.

Just as an aside, that $20bn figure wouldn't even come close to ending homelessness in the US. That's just how much it would cost to house the homeless population, which is a bandaid on the issue.
The US government as a whole needs a major rewrite to actually address the issue. It's not a situation with a simple solution.
In my experience, Starlink has been surprisingly stable. Not that I own it personally, but I do know people who have it that would instantly call me for help if they had a single issue with it.
They were basically just busy work during the cold seasons anyways.
