Hmm I used to be proud of being Canadian. These days it's getting harder and harder.

Hopefully they're Family to help with the victim queues, my friends pretty much stopped playing victim because it takes so long to find a match.

Whew, I heard from a friend it was going that way. The Devs say in the article that they just meant it would recieve occasional content updates like they did with with the first game in their early access model.

They confirmed that it will not have any subscriptions, or battle passes or anything which is great. They also mention that while coop will be possible, it won't be required to play the game, and you can still experience everything single player.

Glad to hear they haven't joined the dark side yet!

I personally think we are going to need to move to a hybrid capitalist situation before we can hope to move past it. It will be very hard for countries to make a switch away, as it will prevent them from really existing in the global market, or force the governments to hold all the cash so they can still partake.

I think the direction some places are taking with basic or universal income is one of the most promising steps away I've heard about recently. It allows for a sort of sudo communism within the bounds of a capitalist society by ensuring all have the same basic access to resources. Obviously there are plenty of caveats with the implementations so far, such as who gets it, how much is it, can it cover basic living, etc. But I think it represents what I'm getting at.

If we can continue to implement meaningful social programs such as free and accessible healthcare, basic incomes, shortened work weeks, minimum wages, etc, etc it is continued progress towards a world where money becomes increasingly meaningless as everyone has what they need and only need to work for the extras.

Just my two cents from someone with absolutely no background in the relevant fields :)

As someone on the edge of making the change myself, I have been enjoying these posts because I have been getting to learn some of the different distros and there pros and cons. Lemmy isn't insanely active right now, so you get a different group of perspectives with each iteration of the question.

Maybe once lemmy gets bigger we can break off these sorts of questions into their own catalog but for now I think they are doing more good than harm here.

Just my two cents tho, obviously you have the right to disagree :)

I thought Stardew Valley was a one man show, but this isn't by ConcernedApe, did he end up hiring staff?

[–] danieljoeblack@beehaw.org 2 points 7 months ago

That was quite the read but pretty worth it. He talks about a lot of the mistakes he made not just in relation to his crime, but as a developer, project leader, and general human being.

He discusses what things he would have done differently, and how he thinks that could have changed things not only for him but his software as well.

He mentions multiple times how much he wishes that the conflict handling and social classes he has access to in prison, were available to him in school. He ends the letter with a call to action, for just that asking people to try and affect legislation to get more youth access to this information to avoid cases such as his.

Sure I'd love to move to the city, but rent/costs are waay higher in the city. I couldn't afford to move to the city, even considering the cost of gas.

I don't thinka Ev are going to save us, but they give those wanting to make a change the option. That said if you can afford a fancy new Ev you likely have the available income to move closer so idk.

Edit: just wanted to say I agree with everything you said, just bring up problems with implementation for the sake of discussion :)
