There is one very easy solution: toggle-ready voice acting, so that if one played the games already, they can keep having their canon voices play in their mind as they read the characters dialogues.

Well, voice acting can be very cost-effective if high-quality models are used for tertiary characters, for instance, such as "generic soldier #2" and the likes.

Fire Emblem supports peaked with FE8\FE9, few are stand outs in FE6 and FE7.

After FE9, supports became even worse than before (FE10 is full of generic "how are you", "let us fight together", "yes we are comrade", FE11 has none, FE12 has very few good ones such as Arran's (very tragic character that was not explored enough), FE13\14\15\16\17 is post 2013 generic anime tropes galore)

That is because in this video, the original chiptune music has been muted and replaced with its Original Soundtrack Edition version, which is not chiptune but imitates PS1 music

I just wanted to know what kind of sound chip Motoi Sakuraba, VP series and Star Ocean series main composer used to produce the Original Soundtrack Version theme you hear into the video.

I have tried looking for information about that everywhere, but not even chat-gpt 4, which uses the web as an warehouse of data, could tell me anything (and gpt4 can answer about very niche stuff easily)

Yeah thanks I edited the video title to be closer to reality.

Final Fantasy 8 is a very divisive game that tried to revamp the formula, yet it was half-baked because of unsavory decisions by the developers, as it made the game potentially way too easy to break and way to tedious in certain instances.

Well, no more!

Available for both the 2013 PC Re-realease and the 2018 Steam Remaster Re-release, this mods improves upon the base game significantly, rectifying what was wrong with the gameplay and progression structure of the original.

I heavily recommend to read the changelog.

A 1.3 version is also in development as of now.

Ending A on 1st playthrough is brutal indeed

I can relate, when I was very young and had Windows 98, and it was dark in the house, the real message spooked me a lot

This game bangs!

It has:

excellent in-motion pixel art

excellent music

a very dark plot

most of the characters have very memorable looks and personality (Wylfred, Auguste, Fauxnel, Reinhilde, Lieselotte, Gwendal especially),

most of the in-game voices are superb

It is a strategic game with a very unique twist: dynamic reflex-based siege battles, where you have to time your characters attack by just pressing the matching button on the DS console.

Very easy to learn, but difficult to master the gameplay if you want to reach the safe threshold for 99% of the battles you'll fight (if you don't reach it, Miss Hell is going to give you massive disadvantages in later battles!)

It incentivises multiple playthroughs and experimentation and has a MASSIVE post-game.

If you can, give it a try!

Hello!

I am new and I am glad that there is an alternative to the mostly toxic community that is reddit.

I am sure we will be friends!

So, regarding the post itself, I don't play games anymore (I grew out of it), however I keep myself informed about what is happening in the gaming world (retrogaming mostly), and guess what...

My favourite Strategic RPG game for the SNES (pictured), and overall excellent game, has received not 1, but 2 fan-made remakes that you can play on SNES or Emulator directly (as they use the base game to be played)

The first is:

Forseti’s Cut: https://feuniverse.us/t/fire-emblem-thracia-776-forsetis-cut/23444

Much closer to the base game, but with A LOT of added content (story, character interaction, items, much better maps), with A LOT of QOLs but slightly more difficult at the very end of the game.

New Theory Of Thracia 776: https://feuniverse.us/t/fe5-complete-fire-emblem-new-theory-of-thracia-776/16704

This one differs much more, it modernizes the gameplay just like Forseti's Cut yet it adds much more in relation to gameplay (but less regarding story and character interation), there are massive differences in relations to overall gameplay feeling, as it is closer to post 2010 Fire Emblem games, while still retaining the Thracia 776 flavour

The author of New Theory of Thracia updates his remake on a monthly basis, adding always something new

I recommned you playing Forseti's Cut before to get an experience closer to the base game (with massive benefits and a much more rewarding story and plot), and New Theory Of Thracia 776 as sort of a "challenge mode" remake
