That said, Iโ€™ve decided to return to Reddit for now.

Tha'ts okay, to each their own. Iโ€™m happy to be with a few hundreds nice people compared to millions of angry strangers. I hope you can come here again once the platform is a bit more polished.

And people are much nicer here.

That's the biggest thing for me. I'm happy to be with a few hundreds nice people compared to millions of angry strangers. I actually noticed than here, when "bad" behaviour is called out (e.g. someone phrasing a request in a very demanding way, while everyone here is a volunteer), people usually react very well, apologize, and go on with their day. That's science fiction for current Reddit.

Probably, that would defeat the purpose of the Fediverse a bit, but it's doable

Depending on the model, and your electric network, you might get some disconnects though. Had that at my parents years ago, ended up doing exactly what the meme is

I know Peertube, but I don't see any Peertube instance able to handle the load of even a fraction of YouTube viewers

Alright, so what are the next steps? The issue with YouTube is that video streaming requires a lot of resources to be scaled, we can't really replace it with open source alternatives
