Ottawa has reached a deal with the majority of provinces to allow Canadian booze to flow more freely across the country just as U.S. liquor is pulled from their store shelves.

The move is part of a host of changes being worked on by the federal, provincial and territorial governments that were announced late Wednesday to add $200 billion to the Canadian economy while it's rocked by U.S. tariffs.

"This is unprecedented action to reduce trade barriers in Canada," Internal Trade Minister Anita Anand told CBC News.

"This is a pivotal moment for Canada to take bold and united action in the face of the United States' unjustified decision to impose 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods."

All provinces, except P.E.I. and Newfoundland and Labrador, have agreed to remove the obstacles preventing their alcohol from being sold in other jurisdictions.

I won't give a pass to americans just because they didn't vote for him. There's a lot of americans who just didn't vote, period. Anyone who didn't actively cast a ballot in opposition to that fuck stain of a president is just a guilty of him being there as the ones who did vote for him. Considering only 152,320,193 people voted in the 2024 US election from a population or 340,110,988, where 268,687,680 of them are over 18, that leaves roughly some 100 million people who could have voted against this but chose not to. More people just didn't vote than voted for either the Democrats or republicans. As far as I'm concerned, those people really didn't care if a fascist government was elected and really don't care about anyone but themselves. So I won't accept apologies from americans trying to wash their hand of this. Their government has threatened Canada's sovereignty, has thrown the first attack, and I blame every single american person that voted for trump, or couldn't be bothered to go out and vote against him, whatever their reason may be.

As the great Canadian band Rush once sang: "If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice."

They don't get to wash their hands of the fascist government just because they chose to ignore the problem rather than cast a vote. They decided the prospect of fascism was just as bad as having a black woman as president.

IMHO Embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe the situation.

A Canadian one dollar coin is often referred to as a Loonie because they have a picture of a Loon on one side. A two dollar coin is generally referred to as a Toonie as play off of Loonie, although it has a picture of a Polar Bear.

Ottawa has said it would respond with countermeasures should the tariffs materialize

U.S. President Donald Trump still plans to make good on his promise to issue tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday.

Leavitt said Trump is also still weighing fresh tariffs on China for Saturday.

Trump said last week he would announce 25 per cent tariffs on Mexico and Canada on Feb. 1 unless the countries help tackle the twin issues of U.S. fentanyl trafficking and immigration.

Canadian officials have said Ottawa would respond with countermeasures should Trump's tariffs materialize.

U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that he could still hit Canada with tariffs as early as next month.

Speaking to reporters on his return to the Oval Office Monday, Trump recited concerns about the Canadian and Mexican borders while reiterating his threat to hit both countries with a sweeping 25 per cent tariff.

"We're thinking in terms of 25 per cent [tariffs] on Mexico and Canada because they're allowing vast numbers of people … and fentanyl to come in," Trump said.

"I think we'll do it Feb. 1," the president said in response to a question about when those tariffs could be implemented.

Trump, who was sworn in as president around noon on Monday, has been signalling since November that he would introduce tariffs on Canada and Mexico. Trump initially promised to do so on his first day in office, but a number of U.S. media outlets began reporting early on Monday that the tariffs wouldn't be a day one issue for the new president.

Most conservatives I've met, in Alberta, Canada, have giant ball-sacks hanging off their trucks... Somehow I don't think they are looking for women in the first place... Or they are lying to themselves.
