I work in carpentry and we drive a full electric Ford transit. Open bed pickup trucks are horrible if you work in a trade, with tools and materials in the bed easily stolen or damaged by weather. Trucks are stupid if you actually do work, and most people buy one to look cool, or for those rare times twice a year when they "need" a truck. Could just rent a fucking U-Haul.

I would love to see large SUVs and trucks taxed to hell and back.
It's not unpopular, it's just that on Lemmy and in tech circles, it's not cool to pay for things. Cool people steal content they have no rights to because they like doing crime and not having consequences. I'm a carpenter, and I work hard for a living, so I value work and my ethics are to reward others for their work. Pirates don't see the world that way, no matter what bullshit they spew about how horrible a company is or how it doesn't deserve to be paid. Your not alone, but it might seem that way on Lemmy.
I read in a book written in the 90s that said in 60's the US DoD commissioned a study of threats to America, and the single biggest one was global warming. Not Russians, or Chinese, nope it was this. They knew then.
Or don't and pay for things you use and enjoy with gratitude and no sense of entitlement.
Can I just drive my Kia Forte without being an asshole?
I think Captain Janeway was probably thinking that they had a narrow chance of ever making it back home alive if they didn't violate the rules a little here and there.
Discuit is actually working on open sourcing thesite.
How the hell was it even worth 44 billion? I struggle to understand how twitter was ever that important and never once found a need to use it myself. I always found it strange that governments and other public entities would use it, like a city making posts about traffic disruptions, or a police dept showing off the latest drug bust via hashtags and url shortening. Fucking strange world.
