I love horror but apparently I don't vibe with a lot of recommendations I find online.

I'd seen so much hype about Event Horizon and I absolutely hated it and didn't find it scary. I just watched Late Night With the Devil and whole it was definitely enjoyable, it wasn't the least but frightening. I also just watched Let the Right One In and really didn't like it. It also was not a horror movie in my opinion.

I will say one of my favorites is Sinister or the first Conjuring. Sinister for the stomach twisting dread and suspence throughout and Conjuring for the same.

So, what movies do you find to be the scariest?

I think if I come at you with the express purpose of venting, then just some validation is really all I'm looking for, personally. A "that sounds hard" or "dang, dealing with X sounds rough". Things like that make me feel like you're actually listening and like I'm okay to feel so frazzled about whatever is happening.

Another approach that I think is good is asking whether or not whoever is talking to you wants validation, or solutions. I'm guilty of always offering solutions when people want to just vent and be heard, so that's always a good stop gap.

But I absolutely understand how awkward it can be trying to be there for someone and, of course, your results may vary. Still, communication gets us everywhere!

I'm with you on "this too shall pass". My family uses this like it's their damn catchphrase and while I'm sure the intentions are good, sometimes I would like validation when I complain about my life being a shit show, not just an idle 'this too shall pass'. Might as well have just shrugged and walked away.

Hmmm, while I see your point on the phrase, my friend group and I only ever use it on subjective things. Like orange juice or chocolate milk being better, for example. If we're both arguing (in a fun way) and have no good points to change the other's mind, then we agree to disagree. Haha

Yes! Absolutely. There were so so many different kinds of all different shapes and colors. They're so gorgeous and some were so so big. That's great for your wife, I'll bet that's fulfilling <3

Stumbled upon a rose and dahlia garden with a ton of different species. It was such a a gorgeous place and a gorgeous day. I took a bunch of pictures, but this one really sings for me.

Ah! That's really cool that he replied to you!

I have a difficult time reading and Fool is one I return to often and read from front to back. It's definitely my favorite of his so far, but I haven't read too many others.

There's one where someone asks him how to start a metal band(?). Gotta be ugly or else hot glue cornflakes to your face and use words that start with 'DE' like decrepit or decompose. Except maybe...

Fool by Christopher Moore

I just utterly adore this book in every way. I'm sure it has problems but I am a shallow reader, so it's fine for me.

Touching the Void

It's a wild ride that showcases just how strong humans really are. Definitely worth a watch!

In 1985 two friends, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set out to climb Siula Grande in Peru via the West Face, a hitherto unaccomplished feat by any climber. After a tough ascent they succeed but on the descent they run into significant problems. Soon they are both in dire danger and the chances of surviving are slim.

I've been casually looking at the ioniqs - is anything in the interior intrusive? I have a problem with EVs having massive screens or way way too many buttons.

Just checking in on y'all.
