I know it. But never got a grip like Settlers 2. But maybe i'll give it another try.

Dwarf Fortress and Settler 2. It's quite comforting seeing everything working and the dwarfs/romans going forth and Back.
Also Kingdoms and Castles works here well too.
I like the "Wuselfaktor" like they say in german

The easy answer is: Yes, because it's mostly bad.
The Long answer is: Like everything in art and life, If you can set it in right context it could also work. If you cannot, it's just bland and bad in the classic artistic craftmanship standard and modern art and Action Art.
