I changed Proton to Proton 8.0-5 and it seems that it runs much smoother now! Thank you for the tip. But like i also mentioned, the graphics look grainy and bad (hope pasteboard is working here): https://pasteboard.co/J04DV6MLyjBy.png https://pasteboard.co/jw2C0cRoKIxU.png How can i get rid of this? Has this something to do with the shaders? I already disabled the steam shaders and re enabled it.

In the beginning, i used Proton Expermimental (i think) because of some problems starting the game. But i can check again and also try one of the stable versions.

Hey guys,

im playing a few weeks now mainly on linux again. But whenever i play AC Unity the game do have some laggs and stutters every few seconds and today the graphic looks very bad, and there is some grain on the textures (with Ultra Settings). Are there some known performance tweaks out there? Cant find anything that is helping on ProtonDB.

My system: Linux Mint 21.2 x86_64 Cinnamon with X11, Kernel 6.5.0-21-generic, Mesa 24.0.1 from the kisak PPA

Hardware: Radeon RX 6950 XT, Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 27' 2560x1440 with 144Hz

My Steam Startoptions: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgamemode.so mangohud %command% Using GE-Proton8-32

My whole system runs on a nvme ssd so i dont think that this should be a problem?

All my other games are fine (for what i see right now), except AC Unity and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. No problems with Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3 and some MMORPGs.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Mangohud on its own seems to work. Just the Gamemode Info ist shown wrong. Maybe trying to reinstall it.

But thank you very much for your Help.

Ok i found a few things.

Hogwarts Legacy wasnt able to start because an error with the automatic backup of the savegames. When starting steam from terminal it showd some errors and so i tried to move the backup folder away from there and after this it worked again

But mangohud still shows that gamemode isnt running. So i searched a bit and it seems that gamemode IS running but mangohud just shows a wrong stat. With gamemoded -s i get the info that it os running. How can i get mangohud to work again correctly?

Thanks for the help.

Yes - already rebooted after "apt dist-upgrade" :(

Gamemode and Hogwarts Legacy are still not running.

Few days ago i switched back to LM 21.2 and everything worked fine. Installed Steam (native), gamemode (or was already installed), mangohud, xone, newer kernel, kisak-mesa, protonup-qt.

Everything worked fine and i played The Witcher 3, Hogwarts Legacy and WoW. Only thing i noticed was, that steam started very slow (some logs said somerhing with the webhelper).

Today i received a few updates (dont know exactly what). After this, first i noticed, that steam was starting normaly again - so i was very happy. But then my xone for wireless xbox-controller stoped working, then i noticed, that Hogwarts Legacy wont start anymore (game is starting, marked for few seconds as running and then stoped). I was able to start The Witcher but then i noticed in mangohud, that gamemode isnt running anymore too…

My game launch extensions/options are „gamemoderun mangohud %command%“ which worked before.

WoW also had some problems but few hours ago i read about this problem and a fix with Proton Experimental (latest-edge). For WoW this fixed it. So i thought trying this also for Hogwarts Legacy but nothing changed. Even without the launch options it wont start.

Can someone help please. It would be highly appreciated! This following things appeard today:

-gamemode not working (but gamemoded -t wont show errors)

-xone not working (fixed it with reinstalling it - dont know if it is still working after restart)

-Hogwarts Legacy not starting

I also can offer logs or more infos if needed (do have some things but googling that found nothing what helped and right now im on mobile)

My system

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950X3D

GPU: AMD Radeon RX6950XT

OS: LM 21.2 Cinnamon with X11

Thank you very much! All you guys!

I tried the network installer but it keeps failing (i think because of maintenance --> https://status.opensuse.org/#scheduled-36 ) First of all, i do like the first few hours on TW (installed it on my notebook because cant boot my main machine right now and so i can try to tinker a bit with it).

And yes i do have a few question :)

But first of all i need to know if there is an app which can create WebApps like the WebApp application from mint. I know that i can create such things with chrome but is there an extra app for that available for TW? I searched the web but didn't find a good solution.

The other things i want to try out first before asking, but i'm realy shure, that there will be a few other things i need to ask :)

Hey guys,

after a few months back on Windows 11 (mostly because of my CPU) i want to migrate again to Linux. With my old setup i used Linux Mint, but i know that some packages are really old and i needed to tinker a lot of things. I liked it a lot but im just thinking about to try out OpenSuse Tumbleweed. Because of a lot of things - KDE, Wayland etc. Do you have any experience with Tumbleweed and Gaming and is there maybe a recent recommendation how-to to set this up? What would be also great is Secure Boot - i read a few things that it is possible with OpenSuse Tumbleweed but do you guys have experience with it? I'm also open for other OS recommandations :) My CPU is a R9 7950X3D and my GPU is a Radeon RX 6950 XT And i have a AIO with a LCD Display (NZXT Kraken 280 RGB).

Thank you for your help :)

Its a internet service/company that wants to make HTTPS available for everyone. Because of security reasons. You can create an Lets Encrypt Account, Register your servers DNS in any DNS service out there and then link your server to your Lets Encrypt Account. Then you can get SSL cert for your DNS Record/your server. I think it is valid for 90 days. You can renew the cert when there are 30 days left i think. So its free SSL for your webserver connection. This is a realy basic explanation but i think to understand what it does its enough ;) Hope this helps - If not, feel free to ask more :)

Edit: your webserver must be accessible from the www
