This is interesting. It’s said that the human species is the smartest animal in its ability to adapt, explore, invent tools etc etc. but in reality it’s far from the norm. The avg human is not creative, couldn’t adapt to its surrounding, or build anything. No normal Humans can invent fire, the wheel, computers, spaceships etc. humans did not invent or discover things, super humans did all the work.

Worried about the future of fediverse, all it takes is a few external bad apples and servers will start defederating. Also even less internal bad apples who decides to make specific desirable features proprietary with the goal to amass the majority to users. Both of these are bad for the fediverse.

You gotta think big picture. Meta joins fediverse -> lots of Facebook users can now interact with fediverse users (yay) -> Meta now builds proprietary code that only works on Facebook for the fediverse -> users en masse joins Facebook fediverse -> Meta declares other fediverse instances sub par and incompatible with Facebook -> Meta cuts off from fediverse completely -> fediverse becomes irrelevant.

Key is more people, not more corporations. We don’t want META to connect with the fediverse!
