Came across this article in the latest stuff magazine and in the past, a lot of writers were a little unsure, but seams more positive.

That's why Facebook were able to buy Instagram and WhatsApp without issue.

This happened to me. Joined threads and what do I see? Signal and instantly had a bunch of random accounts follow me.

I think I'm sticking to Mastodon and Pixelfed.

Have Facebook not heard of the Internet? Anyone can right click save as.

I am very skeptical that Facebook is doing federated to be nice, only to keep digital markets act off Facebooks back.

Networking effect

Mastodon required people to join a server which made out to people who are used to signing up to a single website for the past 20 years or such, seam too complex.

You also end up in a situation where social media managers have to reach engagement and impression targets and don't think which is best platform that will not be taken over Elon musk or Mark Zuckerberg style, but which will reach engagement targets the quickest.

Not possible

However as you are in the EU, Facebook have to add 3rd party support to whatsapp. So that people on whatsapp can still message users who are not on whatsapp. Later in the future, group support will be added.

No time frame of when it goes live.

This has been my worry that some big tech company buys it out. There is latitude and longitude. But its not as easy to remember.

Thunderbird is very nice and lightweight compared with outlook. Picks up email settings more quicker and is much simpler to use than outlook. Recommended to all my clients.

Only use for status is to say you're on Signal.

What's stopping someone from enabling debug mode, downloading adb tools and running pm uninstall --user0 then the package name? Surely with the app removed, the app can't brick your phone. Or running a custom rom like lineage or graphine os?
