  • announce it some weeks early so communities have time to organize

Not related to selfhosted but OK.

Don't know about such software for Windows, but if you run Windows on a virtual machine on Linux, like virt-manager/libvirt you can add the USB as a local SSD.
Virt-manager isn't the most user friendly, but have a lot of features

No they not, in EU people where using VPNs (probably free, with more tracking) to use Threads.

When USA tried to block TikTok, people started to use free VPNs to continue using TikTok.

Mostly are unaware or don't understand, other just don't care they "have nothing to hide"

Ah yes the Samsung and their bloatware.
On S23 is almost 60GB https://www.neowin.net/news/heres-the-apparent-truth-behind-the-60gb-android-os-on-galaxy-s23/

That's why when a look for a phone, always research if there's custom ROMs for it, AOSP based.

I control what's on the phone, not otherwise

Adblock is piracy!

Just use Pided (https://piped.video), Invidious, Freetube or something else.

Youtube website is just trash bloated with JavaScript and trackers.

Depending of your instance, see the local communities, you should have some for "community request" or meta, look for the description of the communities.

You can also request on other instance, doesn't need to be on your instance. Some can be more restrict then others.

There's also theme specific instances, like Star Trek, Path of Exile, FOSS... each instance can have his own rules.

I've seen Lemmy contend grow day by day, one month ago I needed to change sorting from active/hot to new posts, s it show posts from today.

Now every time I see posts from less an hour with changing from hot, and more people commenting (and an lot of cat pictures).

I'm where since 2021, and you could visit lemmy after a week and see the same posts, now feels that people is posting more and engaging more.
You don't need to "fight for attention", is you post someone will upvote or comment.

Lemmy stills small compared to other platforms, but more friendly and civilized.

If the dev don't revoke the token user can continue to use their apps.

Either Reddit was deliberately very selective with which apps had to go, or spez had it done manually and didn’t make a full list of apps lol

Reddit didn't "kill the apps", only charge the API, if devs continue to use their API the bill will be send to them

With Prowlarr or Jackett you can use it with (almost) any other site, or you can use RSS feeds

If the app wasn't update to stop working it still uses the developer API token (client_id), Infinity is also working.

Just don't update the app a continue using while it works.
