I will agree that raw red onion consumes all flavor in a dish, but a yellow onion diced and sautéed improved almost every savory dish it’s in.
If you live in the northeast and ski or surf then you love the sport more than anyone on the west coast. Those spoiled people out west with their good weather, good conditions, and clean breaks would never go out in what we go out in.

He was working for the Cuban government, on sanctioned actions to advise guerrilla groups in some of the poorest nations on earth. That’s very much not what a mercenary does. He fought against mercenaries in the Congo.
It’s also funny you need to bring up a person from 50 years ago to do your “whataboutism” on Cuba.
I think they already had been, Uigyurs were fighting in the Soviet-Afghan war on the side of the muhajadeen and then brought that violence home in the 90s
