Oh no, that depends on the bus. Long trips, the guards want comfort. Those buses usually have AC, maybe not pointed at the prisoners but at least the bus is cool in general. Short trips though, where the guards are up front and prisoners in the back and separate? Total crap shoot. I know this from some personal experience in the NYS system.

Having been in chains on a couple of these buses during my life, I can say this much from personal experience.

In NY, you get food when your prison bus ride is more then a few hours long. We would get a paper bag with two 'sandwiches', a couple greasy cookies/biscuts ( I couldn't tell for sure), and two little cups of juice. The 'sandwiches' where two slices of bread, some mystery deli meat, and some cheese. I do not recommend trying the recipe with the ingredients they use.

Didn't matter how far you where going, that was one bag per trip per person. The trips going long distance where on converted or custom built tour buses. The seats are like what you'll find in any city bus, hard with a layer of fabric over it for the barest bit of cusion. These prison buses usually had a bathroom, but you where told it was for peeing only.

There is anouther factor as well. For the vast majority of non-guard riders, you are chained to another person not of your choosing, for the duration of the ride. Even if one of you needs to use the small single occupant bathroom. I was, in a sense, lucky. I am a large person, and the handcuff-style leg chains would not fit on me, no matter how they tried my legs where just too large and thick and only bone or muscle, so not squishy like I saw some guys who had mostly thick fat on their legs. So instead, I got what the guards jokingly called the "elephant chains", just a single chain passed around my ankles and padlocked shut so I couldn't get out. But, it meant I didn't have a 'partner'. I could have used the bathroom by myself (although I didn't, since in handcuffs I didn't think anyone would aim very well) and I had a seat all to myself, since everyone else was already forced to buddy up.

There was no entertainment, but while the windows are very heavily tinted, you can see out of them from the inside, so at least it's possible to watch what's going by. That is either a blessing or a curse, depending on the person.

And yes, we where told no talking.

Sounds like someone thinks there is only one choice, buy or don't.

Quick summary here;

Lots of people, mostly under 25 from the looks of them, threw buckets of popcorn all over when the Chicken Jockey appeared. The movie was paused by the theater and identified offenders where escorted out.

Honestly people, just control yourselves. This is a kids movie, for crying out loud. It really screams "look at me, I'm a rebel and cool!" in only the most desperate way. I'm glad none of this happened at my local theater, we all just got to enjoy the film and share a laugh or two.

I was born at the start of the '90s, and I only got 1 point.

I have Finch set to auto-update, so I'm not sure if it gives you separate notifications for that.

Finch is pretty close. Free as well. It's intended to help with self care and mental wellness, could be a good fit for you.

My friends and family are feeling stirs of panic, and it has pushed many of us to start taking a more active role in making our voices heard. Letter campaigns to Congress, joining activist groups and participating in those groups, and a much higher level of alertness towards government action are just a few of the more obvious results and changes I've seen.

I fear that it won't be enough, but with young kids in our household we are trying to do what we can in nonviolent ways. The risk of prison or worse would take a huge toll on the little ones.

The problem arises when the person giving those orders authority hears "By order of the king" instead of "by directive of the president".

The US doesn't want a king, it was a big deal here about 250 years ago. Looking like it's gonna be a big reminder for the 250 anniversary.

Those look like rams to me

Gross, it looks way too much like iOS for my taste. Glad I'm switching away from Google controlled android anyway, I'll be customized back to the old stuff if I have to.

Guillotines

I had 3 configs I was testing for No Man's Sky, and since the last couple updates the community configs are broken. If I launch the game those configs come up as totally empty of assigned controls. I can switch to a Hello Games config and it works fine. I can't seem to find any way to delete a configuration once it's been downloaded. I was hoping that deleting and re-download would fix the issue.

After seeing some folks noticing a comment I made elsewhere in this instance, I thought a full post would be best. For those who don't know, the Steam Deck has a feature called Nested Desktop, which allows fast access to Desktop mode without needing to leave Game Mode or reboot into and out of modes.

To use this, go into desktop mode, open the menu and use the search function to look for "Nested Desktop". Now right click and add that to Steam. When you boot into Game mode, you'll see a new item added called Nested Desktop, which you can open to access desktop mode while still in game mode.

I found out about this almost a week ago and so far I use it most for referencing my digital game guides or searching NMS portal codes while still gaming. It's pretty seamless and really opens up some nice options, like modding a game and being able to boot it faster while having Game mode controls available.

Want a 3D printer in New York? Get ready for fingerprinting and a 15 day wait

Assembly Bill A8132 has been assigned a "Same As" bill in the Senate: S8586 [NYSenate.gov] [A8132 - 2023]

I don't own a gun, I never have and I don't plan to at any time in the future. But if these pass in the NYS Senate and Congress, it would be required to submit fingerprints for a background check then wait 15 days, before you could own any "COMPUTER OR COMPUTER-DRIVEN MACHINE OR DEVICE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECT FROM A DIGITAL MODEL."

This isn't even going to stop any crimes from happening, for pity sakes regular guns end up in criminal charges all the time, regardless of background check laws. How about some real change and effective measures, rather then virtue-signaling and theater illusion for a constituency?

If this is meant to be elsewhere, please let me know. I once read a story about a soldier who was in a horrific assault, who was then grafted into a large battle mech. As the story goes on, more flesh is taken until eventually only a spinal column and brain are left inside a gel-sack, and the machine has been upgraded to the point that it now has a super-punch that is powered by artillery shells in the shoulder. Some search engines showed alot of similar stories, but I can't find the right one. Anyone know this tale by title?

I've been reading the Animorph books and had a realization. So many people commented on how the Croc hunter would touch animals, just pick up something that was venomous or plain dangerous, and act like it was not a big deal. Yes, he always cautioned respect for living things, and the general idea was to show that these beings should be treated with respect and a little awe but not feared or disgusted. Wouldn't that be the perfect cover for an Animorph who needed to collect all sorts of powerful forms? And acquiring the morph is supposed to tranquil the animal for a bit, which is occasionally commented on when Steve would handle an animal. Plus, Wouldn't someone who travels all over the world and is famous be in a great position to combat a global threat with these powers? Traveling from place to place, acquiring powerful animal forms, then using them in his mission like a specialist before moving on to the next?
