Creating an interduchy teleporter to Dunkelfelger's border with Ahrensbach would have been a fast travel option, but there are some reasons it may have been unfeasible.

  • It would have also required the King's approval

To prevent assassinations and ambushes, only the archduke could place the kinds of teleportation circles used to transport people—and these circles were limited to travel within the duchy. Those used to cross duchy borders, such as the ones that provided access to the Royal Academy, required the king’s approval. - P4V9 (Finding the Book)

  • The teleportation circles would have to be created by the archdukes themselves

Human teleportation was so consequential that only aubs could make and operate the means to it. - P5V4 (Archducal Family Meeting)

  • Teleportation circles require materials to make. Possibly proportionate to the size of the circle.

“What a waste...” I muttered on instinct. Making teleportation circles required a variety of materials. - Matthias P4V9 (Out of Time)

Just the time to make the teleportation circles may have prevented it from being an option considering all the things both archdukes need to do to prepare. Rozemyne intended to ask Aub Dunkelfelger to place teleporters between the country gate and the gate bordering Ahrensbach until Justus informed her that Ahrensbach's border gate near the country gate was open. This probably would have been a problem considering the above mentioned issues.

I’d assumed the border gate in question would be closed, so I’d planned to ask Aub Dunkelfelger to place teleporters between his country gate and the border gate he shared with Ahrensbach. - P5V8 (Their Information and Name Stones)

Geibe Kirnberger mentions the teleportation circles within each country gate, but I don't see any mention of those being connected to the Sovereignty.

“There’s no need to worry about that,” Giebe Kirnberger cackled. “To my knowledge, there are teleportation circles within each gate. They can be used only by Zents wielding the Grutrissheit.” - P5V4 (Kirnberger's Country Gate)

I just assumed Rozemyne was going to teleport from Kirnberger directly to Dunkelfelger then directly to Ahrensbach there by bypassing the Sovereignty completely and not needing to get permission or the royal family's involvement. And though I imagine it would be convenient for the Zent to have a teleporter connecting each country gate to the Sovereignty, I see no mention of that in the books at all.

The Zent had the power to create teleportation circles between duchies—and, since the country gates existed outside of the aubs’ borders, he probably hadn’t even needed their permission to make them. - P5V4 (Kirnberger's County Gate)

I don't really understand what you're proposing. Assuming they had permission to take an assault force through the Sovereignty, Rozemyne and co. could meet up with Dunkelfelger's knights quickly in the Royal Academy, but then what? I'm just not really understanding how they would get from the Royal Academy to Ahrensbach.

I can just imagine how sad Rauffen is going to be when he hears that he missed out on a true ditter match.

Yep, I think you're correct. Probably a Sylvester prologue and more prep work before the invasion. I'd like it for them to at least make it to Ahrensbach, but we'll see. I'm wondering how many knights will show up from Dunkelfelger. I get the feeling that most would really like to join. Heisshitze will most likely be there unless he has to go to the Sovereignty as the knight commander. Maybe Lestilaut or Hannelore will be there too.

Glad we got some more insight into how Raublut fits into the picture. We knew he had some kind of tie in to Ahrensbach, but evidently it was really the king of Lanzenave where his true allegiance lied.

Now I'm much more worried about Hortensia. I thought she might have been pregnant and not in real trouble and that Raublut was merely a 'red herring' character, but not now. Her being a key holder to reach the Grutrissheit in the underground archive means she is a prime target for Leonzio and Detlinde's scheme. Glad the door needs three keys to open and am pretty sure that's not a door that can be overcome with silver cloth, but who knows. It also probably means that Raublut knows who the other key holders are and likely has some scheme in place to obtain Rozemyne and Hannelore's keys.

Also suspecting Raublut's involvement with the poisoning of the third prince. Not really sure why the current Zent decided to keep this guy around. Perhaps just a lack of nobles due to the purge, which Raublut was likely in favor of.

I wouldn't mind seeing how the preparation to move to the Sovereignty is progressing from either one of Rozemyne's retainers, family members, or the Plantin Company. Also a bit curious how Dirk and Bertram fared after their baptism and debuts. A Tuuli PoV when Myne drops the whole "No matter what happens, I will protect you" phrase would be interesting as well.

It kinda makes me wonder how many people are trugged up. Letizia was until the light of Rozemyne's charm/blessing enveloped her. Detlinde is no doubt living in her own little fantasy world. I'm wondering if either Leonzio or Georgine are too. The question is who's pulling everyone's strings.

Sigiswald at beginning of chapter: Must I marry her...?

Sigiswald by end of chapter: I get to marry her?!

I think we'll probably have a chapter with Rozemyne having a meeting with her retainers and preparing what they need for the fight. Then I'm thinking the epilogue maybe with Sylvester contacting the royal family and meeting with Eckhart and Justus.

It's hard to guess how much the story will progress lately. Some weeks it seems like the story is on fast forward and other weeks it's a lot more chill. Now that we're on a time crunch to save Ferdinand I think the time is going to slow to fill in more details about the rescue. I expect the next 24 hours to span maybe 4 or 5 chapters, although we'll have side stories in the middle.

I'm really worried about Ferdinand. Rozemyne will have to go through the Ahrensbach temple's book room (using silver cloth, registering with it, or becoming the High Bishop?) to get to the foundation. Final boss: unread book room.

Rescuing Ferdinand may be her primary motivation for obtaining Ahrensbach's foundation, but rescuing the fish is probably a close second.

“Aah, fish tastes so good...” I gushed. “I’ve come to want Ahrensbach.” - Rozemyne P4V8
