There is one thing that bothers me. Ferdinand's message said that doing nothing would save Ehrenfest and Yurgenschmidt. I'm not sure what plans he had in progress to make that happen. He's witnessed Detlinde's collusion with Lanzenave and knew Georgine was plotting something so I assume his plans took their plots into account. I think the maximal quality feypaper was integral to his scheme. Did Ferdinand set something in motion that could cause problems now that he is being saved?

One thing I will predict is that the word "Fool" will probably be mentioned in the next chapter more times than any previous one.
"Late" can mean deceased or former. So you were correct to say late count as he is the former count—although he is not deceased, but rather imprisoned.
I was thinking the same thing. The only way I could see it working is that since the wisdom of Mestionora contains the knowledge of deceased large mana users such as zents and aubs that Ferdinand's knowledge would be added upon his death. I'm not sure how Rozemyne would be able to update her Grutrissheit with that additional knowledge or if it would just show up.
I feel bad for Dunkelfelger. They got all hyped up for practically no action so far. Maybe next week they'll have something to fight.
It took around 7 years, but Count Bindewald's dream has finally come true! Rozemyne is now in Ahrensbach using her vast quantity of mana toward the betterment of the duchy!
Yeah, that's what Rozemyne thought anyway:
I’d already connected the dots. I didn’t know how, but Ferdinand must have realized that we each owned part of the Book of Mestionora and that his death would make my book complete. - Rozemyne
I'm betting that Dunkelfelger sends attendants and scholars of the sword and uses the same recording magic tool they used during the bride taking ditter match. I'm guessing that Hannelore will insist on joining Rozemyne; she would be too worried about Rozemyne if she didn't go.
I think that they'll find a good number of allies in Ahrensbach, especially if Lanzenave's feystone hunt is revealed. There seems to be some sinking ships in the background of the cover art, so I'm betting Lanzenave is going to be a lot worse off than the Ahrensbach citizenry.
Not sure if we'll see an appearance by Alstede. She should be able to feel the nobles passing through the border gate, but if Lanzenave has been sending some nobles on ships then she may not realize it. It's a bit difficult to tell how much she's willing to fight for her duchy anyway, considering she doesn't want the job. I feel like her motivation is more about not displeasing her mother and sister than anything else. Although if she didn't fight then she'd have to seek refuge in Lanzenave to avoid being purged.
I'm predicting that Letizia will be found before she can make it to Lanzenave. Also predicting a sugar shortage in the near future so buy sugar now! 🍰
Good question. If the royals find out she has the Grutrissheit they may be fully against her going to Ahrensbach. My thought is she may act like she learned how to use the country gate teleporters from knowledge in the archive instead of revealing her possession of the Grutrissheit.
That's a good point. The mednoble retainers may be pretty exhausted after going all out, but they should be able to make it in time. It's possible they could use Steifebrise's blessing to go faster too.
I noticed something interesting today while reading through "Royal Academy Stories - First Year" again:
Kirnberger was several days away by carriage. The journey could be reduced to a single day by highbeast, but I had never attempted it before, and I wasn’t confident that I could manage it without getting lost. - Judithe
Considering Justus and Eckhart arrived a little after 6th bell, then ate dinner, chatted, and made a name swearing box, it's probably nearing 7th bell. Pretty sure midnight would be 8th bell, but not positive. That certainly doesn't leave a lot of time to get to Kirnberger. Since Judithe mentioned it takes a day by highbeast, perhaps Rozemyne planned a different way of getting to Kirnberger.
I'm definitely not disputing that Ferdinand is acting foolish. I just imagine the conversation to go something like this:
"Fool! You foolish fool! Why are you here?! Did you not get my message?" demanded Ferdinand.
"You are the fool Ferdinand." I countered "Did I not say I would fight to save you with every fiber of my being?"
"Only a fool would attempt the impossible of breaking into another duchy's mana replenishment hall." scoffed Ferdinand "Your foolhardy assault has ruined my plans!"
"Well this fool actually saved your foolish butt." I retorted "Even Erwaermen agrees that you're a fool."
