Now this is a really intriguing review! It’s on my list now!

What did you enjoy about it? This sounds like something I’d generally enjoy :) Is there maybe something comparable that comes to mind others may have read? I’ve read a lot of Gibson and early Stephenson for example. And almost everything by Doctorow. Maybe those are authors you can compare to?

Thanks! Glad I asked, I honestly hadn’t understood that 😂

Honestly have no experience here, but is this at all worth a look if you aren’t paying for YT? I’ve considered reshuffling/reducing the subscriptions I have and Spotify is probably the one I’m most attached to.

The US is a broken democracy. But unfortunately right now the only way to salvage anything and even get a chance of reforming it ever, you have to vote for Harris. It’s sad and the rest of the world would be laughing at you if it weren’t this serious for all of us. Please get Harris in and then suggest a move to a more pluralistic, modern democracy after. The other candidates will not matter in the current system. All you do is helping whoever wins.

I LOVED that game as a kid. One of the few games where I enjoyed both vs and coop campaign stuff

Wasn’t MW open-world?

Thanks, I honestly didn’t know! I’ve only really adopted Lemmy for almost daily use a few weeks back and mostly read tech related stuff and it’s been blissfully apolitical for the most part. Some of it is on .ml - I now understand the issue and will look out for it/support communities on other instances where possible.

Stumbled upon it not too long ago but hadn’t yet determined it important enough for me to use yet. But I can see the tech stack looks like something I could get back into. If a fork starts I might finally move my lazy ass to do a PR here or review there. I’ll keep an eye out on it

Huh, interesting! Thanks a lot! I guess I’ll keep reading the communities on lemmy.ml but avoid joining more. And if I ever encounter the issues described I hope I’ll find similar communities elsewhere. So far everything on Lemmy is so much better than in any other platforms that I’m quite happy.

What are your thoughts on finding a good level of subscriptions for online services, such as storage, photo backup, music streaming, video streaming?

Personal situation: I don't want a ton of subscriptions. I take lots of photos. I listen to music quite a bit. I live in a household that has Android, iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, Linux, ... and a Synology NAS that is already filling up with old music and video stuff from before streaming, phone photo backups as well as the photos from the big camera (manually copied so far). I currently pay for two cloud storage thingies and have to free ones, 3/4 are full :P We also have Spotify Family and cut down to only (HBO) Max and public service for video plus sometimes getting something specific for a month or two.

Any experiences or other observations welcome as well!
