[–] Knossos@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I thought you were joking. It's a pass for me, then.

Seriously, Leto, choose a different career. You're shittin' on our lives.

He's supposed to be in a cult band.

He's the worst.

On a related note, he tried to seduce my ex many years ago when she was 15 years old. He was 31. She was very pretty, but when she was 15 she definitely looked her age. She was just an innocent fan of his at the time, but the creep factor immediately ruined it for her and she got away from him as quickly as possible.

Holding out hope that we’ll get another Daft Punk Tron OST

[–] Rylyshar@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

after the way Di$ney screwed Daft Punk for that soundtrack? Nope. If we're fortunate, Wendy Carlos will do it. But then again, jared Leto is behind this project, so we are not fortunate.

When the sound track sells more than the movie... Wait am I talking about legacy or the new one?

My first thought as well lol.

"We close deals for breakfast

Until a worker wants to 'pay his rent' like some whiny bitch"

[–] skellener@kbin.social 26 points 1 year ago

Smaller studios signed the contract, it’s the big ones that haven’t. Fuck the big studios and corporate greed! Stand with the writers and actors! ✊

How could you both sides workers wanting to be paid for their work and a livable wage and producers making millions of dollars a year? This guy sounds like he sucks.

[–] Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 year ago

Fuck you and your movie, asshole.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sounds like we're all skipping this movie if it comes out then, yeah? Solidarity.

[–] valveman@lemmy.eco.br 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hope this repeats and big franchises have movies/shows delayed or cancelled, as it seems to be the only way to get these pigs' attention

[–] pulaskiwasright@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Will cancelled movies matter if people keep their streaming subscriptions?

[–] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Strikers have called for people to keep their subscriptions. Studios still classify streaming as unproven so they can charge less for them, and people cancelling en masse will likely cause them to double down on that. One of the big arguments is residuals and how streaming basically does not have them when cable did.

[–] MrScottyTay@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

If they didn't have Jared Leto then I'd be somewhat upset about this. But this is just a win for every tron fan at the moment.

[–] flossdaily@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Only one side of the contract dispute needs to bend. And it ain't the writers.

[–] shmanio@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Regarding Tron: Legacy, I suggest you watch the fanedit Tron: Perfection.

It trims some of the terrible dialogue and most of what happens outside the grid (including the sequel bait). Also has the good idea to use the young Kevin, which some find uncanny, only for Clu.

It has become my favourite way to watch the movie.

[–] Rylyshar@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How do you find and watch that edit?

[–] shmanio@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do you still have a link or copy of the movie? I already liked the original but this sounds better. I don't use reddit anymore so going there to contact the guy probably won't work.

[–] shmanio@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I'm sorry, I don't. If I can find it again I'll update you.

[–] atocci@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

There was a Tron 2? Is Tron: Legacy considered a sequel or a reboot of the original?

Edit: A sequel, interesting...

[–] Hank@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's a continuation of the original story so I'd say it's a sequel.

[–] atocci@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

Guess that's on me for not watching the original first then haha
