None. Sales have gotten progressively worse, and I'm mostly happy going through my backlog and also playing the same rotation of games I really enjoy but with new mods.

I will be buying Dyson Sphere Project as a gift for a friend, though, because it just got a big update recently.

Honestly seems like the sale discounts are still solid, but too many games are still at full price years after release. A 50-75% sale is a lot more respectable if you're not still charging $60 for a 4 year old game.

Yeah exactly. I remember always being able to pick up one or two very good games for $5-10, now it seems like there's not much good below $20-30. Maybe that's just me already owning all the good cheap indy games, or maybe it's just inflation, but I also think publishers have gotten more and more stingy with the sales.

I'm at a large backlog and don't really "need" any games right now. There's games I've had on my backlog for over a decade. Putting my steam deck to use.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's a perfectly reasonable stance, and fully applies to me as well.

Unfortunately that didn't stop me from buying more games that I'll struggle to find time to play.

Lol. Heck. Even right now I'm playing Shadow Warrior on my SD. I think it came out in 2013. I may play Assasins Creed Black Flag after this. Haven't played an assasins creed game since the first one.

What games on your backlog are you excited about getting to/have been enjoying playing? I mean honestly I am more interested in that then what new games people buy lol

I am now almost done with Shadow Warrior (it's been a fun game). I also just finished the binding of isaac (well mostly beat. You gotta "beat" it like 30 times to unlock everything) and it was pretty awesome. Oh, and the tomb raider remake was great.

Next I think ima do Assassin's Creed IV, Black Flag.

Also, amazingly, I've been putting off GTA V, even though I've owned it for years and had been playing those since gta 1 came out back in like 1996.

Then I have a survival game called "The Long Dark" that looks pretty cool.

Oh, and Batman Arkam City. The first one was great, so I've been looking forward to this one.

And Psychonauts, Lego Lord of the Rings, Just Cause, Red Dead Redemption 2, I have two other Assassin's Creed games if I really like Black Flag, Beyond Good and Evil, southpark and the stick of truth...probably a few others I've forgotten about. Those are all towards the top of my list. Then theres always time to cram in more Stardew Valley.

I picked up:

  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition
  • Void Stranger
  • Hyper Demon
  • Hogwarts Legacy - from Fanatical
[–] Muffi@programming.dev 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

First time playing Mass Effect? Have a great adventure!

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 10 months ago

I played 1 and 2 back in the day, but there was a lot of complaining about the ending of 3 so I decided to wait for a good sale, and ultimately never got it until now.

I won’t advise anyone to buy this if it’s directly for the Steam Deck as it’s not supported and I experienced audio issues. I don’t regret buying it though.

With that said, this game is gorgeous. Several times I couldn’t believe it was running on a handheld. I just mean that it still blows my mind that we’ve gone from Game and Watch to the steam deck.

I bought Trine 2, dorfromantik, and one of the? Jackbox party pack games, was glad to see those wouldn't have any fuss on the deck.

I think mine is going to be:

Spirits abyss

Boneraiser Minions

Wizard Of Legend

Deep In Galaxies

Petal Crash

Full Metal Furies

Death Road To Canada

Kinda tempted to splurge and get Foxhole or Total Warhammer 2 but I am broke

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Full Metal Furies is great, in addition to solid coop or solo gameplay, it also has some absolutely crazy puzzles in it. Some even enter ARG territory similar to games like Inscryption. I'm always amazed that I don't hear more people talking about it.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It has been on my wishlist for a long time, it isn’t specifically a type of game I gravitate towards I am just always looking for good splitscreen co-op games and this game gets such consistently high recommendations from those who have tried it. It seems like half the people that review it are physically angry the game isn’t more well known. Looking forward to playing it!

[–] Dutczar@sopuli.xyz 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It also plays pretty damn well in single player. I actually enjoyed it more than in the few co-op sessions I had, and 100% including rushing NG+, which I do less often in games now.

[–] talentedkiwi@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

I got Necesse. Plays well on the deck and a good way to pass the time.

[–] eco_game@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 10 months ago

I got Stardew Valley, Spirit of the North, Celeste and Dave the Diver. All of them play super well on the Steamdeck, and except for in Spirit of the North the battery lasts forever.

[–] loopgru@slrpnk.net 2 points 10 months ago

I had Dakka Squadron on my wish list, so I got that. My wallet remains undamaged.

This year actually had some decent stuff as far as indies and older games go. I was able to pick up several games I have been wanting for a while, all for about the price of one AAA game.

I got Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Islets, Supraland, both Dishonored 1 and 2, Do Not Feed the Monkeys, and Vessels for under $70. I look forward to never getting around to them :)

I know for sure Ratchet and Clank and the Dishonored games play on the deck, but I'm not sure about the others.

Bought Portal 1 + 2 for my love, they'd never played them before and they're tied for my all-time favorite game so couldn't pass it up for $1.98. Plus always on the lookout for co-op games to play :D

For me, I finally bought Cyberpunk 2077, although funnily enough I decided to buy it on GoG since they're the actual developers of the game. Is working perfect through Heroic so far, although to be fair I've only made it just past the intro
