I assume that somebody, somewhere, has done the detached corporate penny-pinching to make this all make sense on paper. But this is a disastrous move from a consumer goodwill standpoint. If you have the CEO of a studio which handed you a major commercial success publicly mourning the depth and scope of your layoffs, something's gone wrong.

Ah yes. Hasbro, whose executives are raking in millions, have just laid off 1100 people two weeks before Christmas because "they gotta get leaner."

Hasbro, who tried to renege on the OGL.

Unsurprising. A shame they own D&D.

Never was there a more appropriately named CEO.

Don't forget sending Pinkertons to intimidate and reclaim cards from a YouTuber because they fucked up and sent him product yet to be released.

I still can’t get over that. A distributor made a mistake but WotC treated him like a thief.

They look poised to destroy Magic: The Gathering as well... as an investor, I'm PISSED - all about short term gains for shit C-class execs.

Reminder for DnD fans that supporting indie publishing houses is an option.

Due to the OGL fiasco last winter there's now several non-Hasbro 5th Edition systems developed or in development that use either CC or the ORC license.

I'm personally waiting on Tales of the Valient (formerly project blackflag) and have copies of the Advanced 5th Edition books as well. But I'm sure there's more out there.

create a new studio, hire them back.

Why would anyone create a new studio? There isn't a studio involved with this.

This has nothing to do with the balders gate 3 devs.
