first of all why

I was scrolling through aurora store and wished if i could reply to the ratings so i could help/instruct them.
We have both suitable platforms for discussions and app uploading. The only thing that hinders is the integration. With those features f-droid would be miles ahead of playstore And towards the major question.

how

idonno (notadev)

Please comment if you have ideas. Is gitlab/github/codeburg/gitea accounts enough for these kinda discussion?

Forgejo (by Codeberg) is working on that (ActivityPub integration), actually. Since it is a soft fork of Gitea, we can expect similar features.

Also, fuck GitHub.

Forgejo is a soft fork of Gitea, not the other way around

I must've forgotten to check the comment before posting. Fixing it.

(not up to date)

What did GitHub do?

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 10 points 9 months ago

It's more of a fault to Gitlab and other sites that they fail to compete, but GitHub is rapidly centralizing open source development to the point that projects don't use it lose out.

I used to develop a RuneScape private server called 2006scape. It hasn't been developed in years, but the source code release on GitHub still gets more views than 2009scape, an actively developed RuneScape private server on Gitlab with significantly more features and hyperactive development.

This means if you're looking for contributors, or even users of your software in general, you want to be on GitHub. Most open source projects that aren't on GitHub either follow a harder independence ideology or are blissfully unaware of what they're missing out on.

Copilot was trained on open-source and possibly even close-sourced projects. GitHub did this without prior consent from any of the project owners, which is is in stark violation of restrictive copyleft licenses. Absolutely disgusting and despicable behavior. They’re working on what? Codeberg comments on fdroid?

ActivityPub integration. GitLab and Forgejo/Gitea may be able to bridge with Lemmy. It could look like communities on Lemmy, something like: _@. Suggestion can go into "Issues" for now, although I hope that Forgejo brings in a dedicated "Discussions" tab, or it will be a nightmare having to close multiple issues being spammed.
