Maybe try running it through Steam with Proton-GE? Or use Bottles? Or Lutris?

Have you tried going into the game's properties under "compatibility" and forcing it to use different versions of Proton?

I had this issue where Fallout New Vegas would crash on start, which was fixed by changing from "Proton Experimental" to "Proton 4.11-13", maybe try a few different versions to see if any one works better for this specific game?

I haven't had any issues using lutris and wine-ge

Yes. I have hade no issues trying phasmophobia. However it was not a game for me so I haven't tested it thoroughly.

For what it's worth, the game works perfectly out of the box on Steam Deck via Proton, didn't even had to force compatibility to use any specific Proton version. So at least it does work, and you can see others being successful on protondb too as linked by @PeachMan.
