Downvote Musk spam.

The billionaire doesn’t need your help ensuring him and his businesses stay in the 24 hour news cycle. Don’t be a useful idiot.

I thought all the attention Trump was getting in the news in 2016 would tank him because he always said and did the STUPIDEST shit. It's hard not to think that exposing as many people as possible to how awful these toxic, narcissistic guys are would make people see the light and help end their crap. But for some reason it doesn't. Does ignoring it help? I have no idea. Too dumbfounded still to this day.

Negative press should be promoted. Everything else should be downvoted. This article isn't negative, but rather a desperate attempt to stay in the 24 hour news cycle.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I guess I read this as bad press!

I'm curious why you read it that way? This is Elon Musk's company putting out a PR release for their latest strategy to make money (and make the news). This is Twitter desperately trying to stay relevant. Sharing this information only serves to give free advertising to Twitter.

Just like you said, the desperation. The act is laughable. But I guess you're right, I'd rather nobody knew about it and it failed miserably instead

So you think Musk ordering Twitter to engage in legal identity theft and selling user accounts like a hacker would is somehow a good look?

Responding before this inevitability gets down-voted into oblivion.

i know this post is common, and it seems annoying to read this when all you want to do is "read the news"

But remember, even a repeating name in a headline is propaganda and you are not immune.

The only spam I see are the comments like this underneath every post referring to the one richest douche-bros on the planet. We get it. You hate the dude, but like it or not what he does has actual ramifications on real people and corporations. That makes him and his actions newsworthy.. Screaming on Lemmy about how you'd like to be an ostrich and stick your head in the sand till he goes away isn't gonna change that fact.

Sounds like a money laundering scheme.

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

But no doubt he's also selling some of the handles of formerly verified users, which could increase the disinformation and propaganda on his site by people posing as legit journalists, politicians, and celebrities who have left the platform.

Hello X-ian suckers, I got this primo 4-letter username for only $300 on the fediverse. You probably don't know the ins and outs of the deep fedi handle market like I do, so I'll make it easy for you: Just give me a call and it's yours for only $500.

[–] TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'll start the bidding at $10000 for mine

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Do you accept rubles?

[–] Link@rentadrunk.org 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have one too. I’m offering it for $250.

[–] ZILtoid1991@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago

Desperation is high!

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Who gives a shit? I wish I could filter out anything mentioning musk, x, or Twitter. Couldn't give less of a fuck unless the news is that shitter has gone under.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Elon wants money.

[–] arefx@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Imagine spending that much money on a user name for a dying social media site. Lmaooo
