Summary

Elon Musk lashed out online Monday as Tesla stock plunged over 15%, wiping out its post-election rally and shedding 50% of its value since December.

Investors worried about market declines, recession fears, and Tesla's growing controversy after Musk's far-right rhetoric and mass government layoffs.

Musk falsely claimed Democratic donors funded anti-Tesla protests and linked critics to Jeffrey Epstein. He amplified conspiracy theories blaming arson attacks on Democrats.

Despite his efforts, Tesla's collapse cost Musk $23 billion in a single day.

Yet the Tesla brand has also become uniquely toxic since Musk swept into Washington, gave what was widely recognized as a Nazi salute at an inauguration event

Good to see the mainstream media finally (sort of) calling this what it was instead of tiptoeing around it

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Given how litigious Musk is, I think that's as good as we'll get.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Doubt it to prove libel or slander he would have to somehow prove it wasn't a Nazi salute and it was specifically to hurt his reputation and not simply you know.... News.

Only to get views. Tomorrow they’ll be bending a knee again.

[–] jsomae@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

out of curiosity, can you explain what physical stance has only one knee bent? Like, a lunge..? Genuinely new to this expression.

[–] jsomae@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 hours ago

Ah I see. I think you can understand my confusion though -- this guy has two knees bent, both at almost the same angle.

Cool. I cant wait for Tesla shareholders to file a class-action lawsuit for recklessly and negligently tanking the share price. Their portfolios have taken a significant hit, and it's directly attributable to his poor public behavior, as well as partnering up with the loudest anti-EV voice on the planet. They have easily demonstrable damages, and it would be an easy case to win. I'll bet there are numerous lawyers lining up their cases right now.

AND, its just a matter of time before the Tesla board fires him as CEO. He can wreck the government and Tesla, or he can run Tesla, but he cant do both.

I'm amazed the stock is still as high as it is. Anyone buying a Tesla right now is making an unpopular statement in most the world.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

ive seen an increasing amount cyberdumpsters in my blue area since last year, one regularly picks up the gf in my neighborhood. the people buying it is mostly ignorant of musks tantrum and his bigotry.

not needed, they have concepts of a plan

[–] GreyAlien@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Mark my word: Elon will regressed intellectually during the next ten years, to the point his brain will be like the one of a child.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

ketamine is one hell of a drug

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

So, how exactly is that different than what it currently is?

[–] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago

You need to be more specific than "a child" considering he mentally already seems to be at the intellectual capacity of a 15-16 year old (except without any of the capacity to learn).

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some kind of ketamine induced dementia?

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

alcohol and cocaine,.

[–] Dropper_Post@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

his eyes do look reptilian

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

after stringing out on ketamine and booze. wonder if he uses a vasoconstrictor on his eyes

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

To calm himself from the meltdown, I suggest he ups his dose of ketamine and then pisses blood.

Alternatively, self-immolation is always an option, and ethically correct in his situation.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

hes more booze than blood at this point.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wow, the president is really scared, he even had to call trump for a photo op in front of a Tesla

trump had to stop golfing after the president called him for promoting sales of Tesla

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 5 points 1 day ago

Y'know, if this gets conservatives to actually start being interested in EVs maybe that's not as bad of a result as it could've been

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He went from selling beans to selling shitty cars. The american dream is alive and well

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nazis aside, the cars aren’t shitty, or at least not the two cheaper, popular models. They certainly aren’t best in class, but saying they are shitty really undersells the good engineering that went in them, despite apartheid boy’s best efforts.

[–] wpb@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What makes you say this? All the statistics I saw (not that many, but enough to get a vibe) were pretty poor, and that's from before he went mask-off capital owner.

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

From what I’ve read, everything related to what makes the car move - the battery stuff, motors, etc - is, or maybe was, ahead of the competition. The infotainment was also the only one that didn’t suck, and didn’t have the familiar car lag.

Also the whole integration with their charging infrastructure still appears to be the absolute best - you park and plug in, nothing else. The navigation being very precise with charge estimations, and reroutes to charge spots when needed

[–] wpb@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] urandom@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I can’t find any article that goes into any useful detail about the first part, so take that with a grain of salt. Most vaguely mention how the system has very few moving parts, the car is very aerodynamic, and praise the battery thermal management.

The rest though, that’s immediately obvious from any video review you watch

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Sounds like he didn't work hard enough.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago

120 hours isn't enough, he needs to put in more hours.

[–] Don_alForno@feddit.org 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Maybe he should eat less avocado toast.

[–] Billybob22@feddit.uk 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump just f***ed Tesla. It had some coolness left in the brand but Truml just removed that on the White House lawn.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

Teslas have been the official MAGAmobile for a while now. The brand has been tainted for at least the last 6 months. Its just reaching a critical point where the stock is finally starting to crash. It will eventually end up around $20, which is where it belongs.

[–] joecamnet@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Man. Poor guy. Really gotta feel for the nazi billionaires trying to destroy the world when their feefees get hurt. Chin up, champ!

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Today so many good news

He lost $23 billion from Tesla and $23 billion from tweeting about Carlos Slim

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago

Aw, hes down to only $400 billion. However will he survive?

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

Has anyone told him about the pulling of bootstraps? I feel that if he really, realllly pulled then he could make that 46 bill back by the end of the week!
