Explanation: Saturnalia was a Roman holiday in mid-late December which was a time of revelry and celebration, where people upended social norms, exchanged gifts, and dressed in outlandish and gaudy manner. Obviously Christmas is a monotheist invention to replace our precious Saturnalia! IO SATURNALIA

"Marry"?

Why are we talking like the landed gentry?

If only the Holy Roman Empire carried on that tradition.

Of course, that might have something to do with it not being holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.

More like it was "holy" because of its relationship with the church.
Which of course are the nonces with their "christmas" in the first place.
