Anon loves his mum (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by Gullible@sh.itjust.works to c/greentext@lemmy.ml

>my mom left school at 16 due to poverty
>never showed much interest in books, music etc
>retired last year
>has since been reading through all the books I left in boxes at home
>her enthusiasm for reading is so pure I feel bad for not enjoying reading that much these days
>she kept asking me if I was writing a book and said she could "never do that"
>picked up the hint and encouraged her to give it a go, without getting my hopes up
>tfw she sent me a story she wrote about two rabbits who become friends
>tfw it made me cry and feels more honest than anything I've written

How to cope with this feel bros?

I love my mum so much.

Maybe all those edgy teenagers grew up, started seeing things through more mature lenses. Came back to write something different.

It's a subreddit (wholesomegreentext IIRC), but I don't believe there's a specific community for them on Lemmy yet. If so, point me to it. Can't get enough of them wholesome stories.

I have been trying to get my parents to write a book for 15 years. Foster parents of the year for the state. When we left for college, they did therapeutic foster care (almost unsaveable kids), and were great parents. To top it off, my mom was an English teacher. Just write it already! Probably too late.

I was expecting something entirely worse based on that title.
