I hope price goughers continue to miss sales and profits. f them greedy Westons.

Good! We need to force them to shut down locations and then lose profit.

We stopped shopping at Provigo when the Loblaws boycott started. We've been shopping at our local food market where there's food mongers of all kinds. The fruits and vegetables are about the same price, but bigger and better quality. We get out meat at the butcher, cheese at the cheese counter, fish at the fish monger, anyway you get the idea. Even dry goods like rice, flour, chocolate chips, cereal, nuts coffee and even soap we get at a bulk shop.

We only go to Metro to buy canned goods, cleaning products and some dairy.

We don't particularly save that much but man the food is so much better.

We went to Provigo recently because we just didn't have time to do it groceries and had to do one stop for everything. I never thought the quality of the fruits and vegetables were so bad. Holy shit. Everything was almost rotten in the shelves. And the meat portions have reduced so much! I wanted to buy a pound of ground beef and all the packages were one third of a pound less!!! I had to buy two and they cost as much as a regular pound! Unbelievable.

Yeah PA is awesome.

I’d shop at Loblaws if the quality was better.

But why pay premium for worse vegetables than metro and worse meat than Costco?

Potatoes should not go bad after a week, that was the least straw for me.

The quality differs depending on the neighbourhood but I agree. Nearly every bag of potatoes from loblaws stores has been rotten. How hard is it to keep potatoes fresh?

I'm doing my part!

I used to go to my local loblaws chain almost exclusively because it is so convenient (like, literally across the street). For months now i have actively made an effort to avoid them at all costs. So that's thousands of dollars revenue gone for them

At the same time, i'm getting higher quality food from elsewhere

I count myself very lucky to have the resources to escape the clutches of the westons (and metro/empire). I realize many dont have the means to do the same and we need to do better to give everyone more options

We’ve been shopping at Costco like mad and are building a pantry of cheap staples to pull from for meals.

For proteins, buy in bulk and portion them out. Far cheaper than supermarkets.

I have been ordering 5 kg bags of red lentils from Costco Online to get the bulk of my protein.

Please don't tell the others. This is my life hack too!

[–] nik282000@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

I have NEVER seen anyone in Canada steal groceries.

How much can a banana cost?

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Panished the parasite where it hurts them most... Profit!

Fuck 'em

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

They must be painished!

I haven't set foot inside one of their stores since the spring. It's not because I'd rather buy from discount stores - I just fucking hate the company and refuse to give them another dime.
