Anything to not install Linux right?

[–] BigTrout75@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

It is funny how they complain but don't leave. It's just a bad relationship.

aye lets just keep putting up with ever increasing bullshit instead of going through mild discomfort once to get used to a new os.

i heard apple has a huge marketing budget though. lets all switch to apple im sure it will be better and that no other viable alternative exists.

Trash filler article, TLDR use Rufus to make installation media 🙄

Wake me when I get 11 without the anal probing and walled garden.

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

What about my anal probing?

Just spreading the good word for those still stuck/attached to Windows. You can get W11 IoT Enterprise LTSC which has no bullshit. Would be a shame to waste time looking for it, and a permanent activation on websites such as massgravedotdev.

Edit: this version is FANTASTIC for gaming. Doesn't even have Xbox or M$ Store bloat. Feels like PC gaming back in the XP and 7 days.

[–] TacoSocks@infosec.pub 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if LTSC won't have recall.

[–] Codilingus@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

The IoT Enterprise LTSC won't have recall or copilot. It gets Edge and that's it.

[–] Mataresian@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wasn't that one expensive or hard to get?

[–] Codilingus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

Its hard to get, but I'm not sure about pricing, since they only sell it via business volume licensing.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes but, then I'd have Win11 installed.

[–] Codilingus@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Then that comment isn't for you.....

All consumers should be off 10 by now

[–] RippleEffect@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Windows 10 still works fine and a lot of what 11 disqualified was perfectly capable hardware.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Those people would be in n Linux by now

The EOL hasn’t been a secret

[–] RippleEffect@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm guessing the majority of those people barely know how to work a computer.

For example, I'm either going to need to swap my mother's computer over to something Linux or give her something supported. Not currently sure which but since everything is web based anyways, I think Linux would be ok for her.

If it were up to her, she will use it well out of support before buying a new laptop.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just set my MIL up on Linux Mint. The two things she uses her computer for are email and web browser, so it doesn't make any difference to her.

[–] RippleEffect@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Right, but you had to do it for her. Not a huge deal, but still something nonetheless.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

A new windows computer I would have had to set up for her as well.
