One can hardly be active in GOP politics today without having committed at least a few thousand federal crimes. Skating past indictments and, certainly, at least a few convictions seems to be a litmus test for “leadership” in their criminal cabal.

Edit: ironically, fascists of the past - esp Mussolini - hated the mafia, which the US leveraged as allies both at home and abroad during WWII (quietly, ahem). Then again, Russian gangsters are a lot more amenable to fascism… not at all coincidental the Ghouliani, is his “cleanup” of NYC Italian mobsters in the 80s and 90s created a vacuum that was immediately filled by Russian mobsters he was friendly with… as was his BFF Trump… who immediately benefitted from the change in ownership of all of the mod-run construction industries like concrete, steel, etc…
