What's getting banned and for who?

[–] Chetzemoka@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Medical care that was recommended and prescribed by a licensed Medical Doctor is being banned for citizens of the United States and their families.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

That's extraordinarily vague. What kind of medical care and what kind of citizens and why are citizens family got anything to do with this? I want specifics not general statements that can be figured from the headline.

You don't need specifics. There's no reason to ban medical care that was recommended and prescribed by a licensed Medical Doctor and agreed to by citizens of the United States and their families.

We have medical ethics boards. The ignorant politicians need to stay out of medical decisions.

Alright so I bit the fucking bullet and skimmed the article and it says young people. I would assume that means younger than 18 ie children. Now parents of children can consent to some activities on their children's behalf. I would put most trans related medical care in the same basket as getting a tatoo its a permanent body modification. I don't think children should be allowed to permanently modify their body even with parents consent. As an adult you can consent to whatever the fuck you want but I don't think such things should be available to children.

Ohh and Btw ethics don't get invented by a board they get invented by a society.

Oh, don't worry sweetheart, I knew what you were fishing for. You don't have to spell it out. I'm just not interested in listening to you pontificate.

Medical care and cosmetic body art are nowhere near the same thing, so you can fuck off with that.

Invented by a society and enforced by a professional licensing organization. We already have those mechanisms in place, bud. The ignorant politicians need to stay out of medical decisions.

I knew what you were fishing for.

And you chose to avoid discussing the fundamental nature of the topic at hand why?

Medical care and cosmetic body art are nowhere near the same thing

Let me make a list of similarities and differences for ya

Similarities

  • permanent modification to body
  • positive outcomes are purely psychological
  • cannot be undone once done

Differences

  • children can get one
  • are labeled as a cunt for asking questions about 1 not the other
  • some people think one is a right

Politicians are elected its called democracy it exists so the opinions and ethics of the people can be actioned upon and hence said professional licencing organisations can be updated.

[–] Chetzemoka@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Children are not routinely getting permanent surgical interventions for gender affirming care. Tattoos and piercings can both be undone.

"Bro bro I'm JUST ASKING QUESTIONS BRO" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

Then the politicians can update licensing organizations. We DO NOT NEED NEW LAW about this or about pregnancy care.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I would most certainly classify fucking with hormones as a permanent intervention. I'm glad we have established that piercing and tattoos are less permanent.

Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence

I'm not asking you for evidence I'm simply questioning ideology. If you feel the need to back your opinions with evidence ur welcome to go get some. I find the whole concept of sealioning an affront to democracy and civil discussion I see it as a simple label to discredit any criticism and deny someone from questioning your beliefs.

Laws/rules are simply the language or bureaucracy. And don't you dare try lump me in with the religious nut jobs who want to kill abortion every adult should have complete self autonomy over themselves anything else is fundamentally against freedom.

Not my fault you're wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
