I saw a conversation between him and Stephen King where he talked about how laborious he found it to write consistently. He could get someone to ghost-write for him to make everyone shut up and rake in the money tho.

He is too busy trying to destroy Lamy, NM.
I definitely didn't think so at the time, but I consider GoT S8 a blessing in disguise now. It has managed to take my considerable interest in the story/universe and shit on it. Absolute smithereens.
So, the fact that Winds and whatever the last one was supposedly supposed to be called are never going to come out actually doesn't bum me out anymore.
Well at this rate he is going to die one day of old age and the cannon ending will become the HBO one as the story will not be finished on the books
