News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I was randomly banned without warning. I was posting and next thing I know, I had a message saying I've been suspended permentaly and to check my inbox. It was a generic message with "repeatedly violating multiple rules of conduct" and I was so confused. I followed their directions by checking my other account and i got nothing in it until hours later when I got that exact same message. Both appeals were denied. I've also contacted support but I hear they never respond back or it can take 2-3 months.

Has anyone been able to get their perm suspension uplifted or just create a new account and not get banned for ban evasion? How did you do it?

I've only been banned by device and email because my husband and son didn't get banned. We all share the same wi fi.

Wait, many users are being banned right now?

I never ban evaded and I don't know how I would multi bot. Reddit says we can have more than one account just as long as we don't break the rules. I followed what their policy said. They even say make a new account if you don't like your username but I'm afraid their bot will just ban you for posting in the same subreddits you did with your other account or if you get baned, your posts on your older account could show up as a ban evasion if one of the mods comes across your older post. I'm speculating this is how I was banned.

I guess shreddit all your comments first before moving onto a new account but what if reddit sees that as you trying to get around the rules and stuff when they said you would need to make a new account if you want to change your username.

from what ive seen the bans are so arbitrary, you dont even know what your being ban for, if you havnt violated any TOS rules. it could be a Subreddits filtering removing your comments triggering a ban. other things is if your using a VPN sometimes gets you flagged. but these 2 things are still ridiculous to result in a sitewide ban, shadowban is just as serious as a sitewide ban. its for these recent purges to be exact, so many occurred in FEB-MARCH.

alot of people are banned for evasion attempt, even that is kinda crazy too, usually they just perma-ban you from the sub, if you use another new acct to comment that of course will site wide ban you. but what they did is, temp ban some people then banned all thier accounts for ban evasion, retroactive bans, for example your temp ban was in a sub, and then it finds all your other accounts that commented previously in one or more subs they were banned in before with other accounts.
