Explanation: As the meme implies, the Union was supported by a broad range of folk, united against anti-democratic treason and the institution of chattel slavery. This united front included, however briefly, a very... eccentric adventurer who claimed to have been honored as a prince of Afghanistan for his prior military services in the country.
