Why are Americans so riled up about this?
Do you guys not realize that this reaction is literally one of the reasons they do this? To be a distraction and to show their base that they made the bad people™ cry about it.
For me, it's the blatant racism with some fascist nationalism thrown in.
I think you're under thinking this.
The primary focus of Trump since coming to office has been securing natural resources. Greenland, Canada, Ukraine all have rich mineral deposits. Even the Panama shit is about controlling a geographic "resource"...the canal.
This rename is about making it sound like it belongs to the US. What's there a lot of here? Oil. And it sits under international waters.
The US already has a lot of rights to the oil there. but the rigs aren't pumping because despite the drill, baby, drill crap US oil companies already have too much supply. He wants them to drill just to look like they're doing more shit.
Come on man if we are crying racism over this is nonsense no-one will actually listen to us when we are actually facing real racism.
This is exactly what they want.
