Gen Xer wondering the same thing. The kid hitting thing joke I get, but not what's supposedly making them angry.
Could it just be as simple as "woman does thing, man is upset?" The kind of man that hits his kids probably also hates women.
Maybe? I'm assuming it's a joke I just don't get.
