I don't think they're making much of a dent. The article is pretty unclear though on why Chinese gamers are mad, other than that there was a possible "dodgy translation."
I mean, it's a blip but they were trying.
The gist of it seems to be a few Chinese gamers are upset that Black Myth: Wukong didn't win game of the year and combined with a bad translation made it seem like Sven, who was presenting, instead of his anti-greed speech was translated into basically saying that he knew who was going to win, like he knew beforehand, and game sales aren't important, and some took that ask he was mocking Black Myth for not winning.
Just language barriers and general gamer stupidity all around.
But, also, why Astro Bot?
Your right, it should have been belatro
Balatro is the objectively correct choice.
Because the Game Awards hates indie games.

That is no indie game.
N stiwtosotsotskgsgms
"Indie game" is not a genre...
N stiwtosotsotskgsgms
Having connections is not the same as having a major publisher. Something isn't indie because it's a genre or just a small group of people.
It's people like you who try to muddy that.
N stiwtosotsotskgsgms
It's not a debate.

You're robbing the right to exist as indie games from actual indie games, allow corporations to make games like Dave the Diver take the spotlight away from real independent developers, simply because corporations are becoming wise to masquerading as an indie game.
Have a terrible week. You're a bad person.

That a good thing you realize you are spreading unnecessary toxicity.
We all got shitty days, we all make mistakes, what important is to admit them and learn from them. Not even the community moderation is immune to that, I got some example in my own moderation history :D
I'm pretty sure the last part is not necessary. Fighting toxicity with more toxicity will only do harm to the community.
I don't know about that. I am saying, that I wouldn't count It Takes Two as an indie title.
N stiwtosotsotskgsgms
Yeah, absolutely. Just for me, this feels like a typical AA game. Indie is more like Noita, Mouthwashing or Vampire Survivors. But you are right, there are no definitive borders or anything.
