"We are raising funds to support a critical legal defense in the fight against unchecked corporate power and a system that continues to favor the few over everyone else. This case isn't just about one individual—it's about challenging a status quo that protects the interest of the powerful at the expense of justice and fairness," read one of the fundraising pages that was quickly removed by GoFundMe.

So you would be cool with someone else killing Hitler, for the greater good?

[–] Infomatics90@lemmy.ca -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

no, that would be murder, i would say Hitler should be arrested before he commits his crimes

[–] dependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’m afraid you’re not living in the real world then.

Nobody was going to arrest Hitler, he was the leader of a country. Much like nobody is actually going to arrest Netanyahu. So that means they’re able to continue ordering the murder of innocent people.

Now I think it’s insane that you would be so staunchly against murder for any reason, even when the person who should be murdered doesn’t share your morals and will happily be complicit in the murder for thousands and millions of people. It’s a massively naive take on the world and I’m flabbergasted that an adult could hold your beliefs, well unless religion is involved as that tends to skew people with some belief that people will get what they deserve when they did, which itself is a little naive.

One final hypothetical:

You’re on vacation on a deserted island with your family and some lunatic has taken a boat to the same island. They’ve rigged up some explosives in your families cabin and are going to blow it up in 60 seconds, you find a sniper rifle (assume you know how to use it) and have the ability to shoot this dude before he blows up your family.

Are you still not going to take action? Are you still a pacifist in this situation?

[–] Infomatics90@lemmy.ca -5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

i wont go on vacation becuase i dont trust airplanes. problem solved.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

You're an idiot. That isn't a gotcha, you're dodging the whole point.

[–] dependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean I did say the island was reachable by boat, but hey avoid the question because I suspect you would agree with murder in that situation.

Kinda has the only moral abortion is my abortion vibes, just swap out abortion for murder.

[–] Infomatics90@lemmy.ca -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

abortion should be legal because its not its own life until it leaves the womb. and no im not going to commit murder. i would rather die first.

You wouldn’t be dead. You would be alive living with the facts your moral compass got your whole family blown up whilst the killer roams free, according to my hypothetical at least.

Anyway, you do support murder. If you eat meat, use pesticides, etc.
