Mattel already has over 40 movies in the docket: https://comicbook.com/movies/news/mattel-toy-movies-in-development-barbie-hot-wheels/

Barbie was meant to be their flagship to usher in the flood. "We'll start off with a bang to get people thinking that the rest of our toy movie offshoots will be worth watching," is what I take away from it.
