Yeah, it is completely over. We're never having another election in our lifetime.

I'm not sure why you're getting down-voted. Between the Immunity verdict and Project 2025, that's a very real possibility. Did people not see the first attempt on January 6th?

[–] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It is just really hard for people to accept that this is happening in their lifetime. They can't believe a reality television star is going to overthrow democracy, and usher in cronyism and strongman authoritarianism.

Yup. Denial. All the facts point to it but people have never experienced this before so they don’t know how to act and just deny it.

Go look at the response to some of my other comments. My opinions and perspectives have been consistent throughout all of them, and yet you can see some of my comments have piles of upvotes and others are downvoted into oblivion.

The cognitive dissonance is so extreme that it is palpable and observable in real time. Across the board almost everyone has downplayed the threat posed by Donald Trump. Every single day things get worse, yet he is only ever stronger and more emboldened. People are simply not prepared for what is coming. But how can you blame them....

Having to go to work every day really necessitates pretending things are normal.

Yeah, this isn't going to happen. He'll finish his four years and hopefully who the DNC props up next is younger and more genuine.
