A hundo for an app is crazy expensive, and even the twenty bucks for the adfree version is a stretch for many, there's no argument there. Yet still, the "entitled gamer" mentality, just poopooing over everything and everyone they disagree with, on display in this thread is genuinely disheartening to witness.
You could go with the 1.99 monthly donation. That's what I'm doing.
Buys the dude a coffee a month.
I paid $1.99 for reddit sync pro. I will also say I got more than $20 worth of entertainment value from it. Still waiting to purchase the Lemmy pro version. Seems inevitable. I have no problem supporting the developer. I don't need the ultra subscription with cloud saves and what not. Doubt anybody really does yet it is a option.
Strange how it's ever only an argument if people are trashing something you like...
And sorry but I must have missed something about sync to understand the hype about it. First sing I saw in google play was the tag for in-app purchases. I'm okay paying for an app but I would prefer doing so beforehand without guessing what I might be paying after installation. Then the first thing I saw in sync was sponsored content. Absolutely not cool.
Connect for Lemmy has basically the same layout as well as the thunder client just without sponsored content. I would totally understand if those client where garbage or had missing features but that's not the case... So what am I missing?
Shhhhhhh. Let people enjoy things they like.
I do, I'd just like to enjoy it myself you know. That's why I asked.
It's sync for Reddit, something we've used for almost a decade. But it's for Lemmy.
For us, that means a developer we can talk to, who talks to us and listens, who is talented, performant and responsive, and an app that embodies all of the above while configurable and fast.
Imagine your most used app and social media that you have used for so long is taken away overnight. And the developer left his job to work on sync. He lost his job again because of Reddit.
We all got sync and Reddit taken away; now we have it back, and we are pleased about it, and it feels good to toss a token to someone to literally give them their dream job back again.
Also, your comments of ad-supported apps as misleading sponsors is a mischaracterization, even though ads and all associated parts are utterly disabled if you pay 20 bucks to remove them for life. You don't get to have a fast, cheap, and good app; you can only pick 2. For me, good and fast is just fine. For you, stick with connect.
Most people came to Lemmy because of third-party Reddit apps getting destroyed, don't be surprised about the hype.
Yeah I've never heard of Sync, and never seen this kind of love for an app before. A game maybe but a social media app? Meh.
