The CPC are probably convinced the only way they can achieve a majority under Poilievre is if they get a false majority through a lucky roll of FPTP. In 2015 they were all upset that the LPC got a majority with only 39% of votes

FPTP has generally benefitted the LPC. I remember an analysis I read about the time they were "promising" election reform that said in close races, over 60% of the time the Liberals ended up with the election. Wish I could still find it, my google-fu is failing me tonight.

Besides, this bill had nothing to do with that. It wasn't going to fix anything even if it had passed.
