It’s baffling to me why it’s a weird negotiation to pay taxes instead of them just telling me what I owe since they do know what I owe.

You can thank the Intuit lobbyists for that one.

Ah yes Taxes. The things I don't mind paying but wish the rich kids would pay too. :-(
