How the fuck is this virtue signaling? Do you know what virtue signaling is? Do you think that I'm over here preaching about worker rights then go on and whip slaves in real life?

the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

You must not, since you are asking and then talking about whiping slaves or shit. Maybe you were thinking I accused you of "projecting."

Anyways, my point remains. You chimed in and downvotwd to assert that, stating my belief he was joking was somehow bad. Coming to the defense of an imaginary victim to tell everyone how important workers' rights are when no one questioned it to begin with.

Now, next time, maybe you should check the dictionary yourself before asking if someone else knows the definition of something ๐Ÿค”

Yup, more virtue signaling.

When someone jokes and there isn't a victim, but you make one up, that's an imaginary victim.

Just don't bother digging further. I haven't disagreed with anything you've cited or posted. I just think it's craven to keep replying to me as though I've said things I haven't.

It's been normal Lemmy though for the past month. It's like an echo chamber shaking itself into ruin. Everyone who used to pick fights with conservatives on reddit came here, and now they all eat their own without enough real targets.

First you said,

I feel like he was probably joking

Now you say

When someone jokes and there isn't a victim

Your "feel like, probably" became a certainty pretty quickly. How do you know Musk was joking? He was talking the same way when Model 3 production ramped up. He bragged that he himself was sleeping in the factory. I have already posted what happened as a result. Was not a joke before, was it? Now Musk says the same things and you're quick to defend him.

Because the first post is my feeling, the posts thereafter are supporting that first post. Continuing to couch the statement in opinion every time I reference that same opinion is bad writing. It's not a court of law where I have to keep saying it's my opinion over and over again. I said it once, and it remains so.

But keep going, dude. You're really showing me how wrong I am about your behavior.

I voiced my opinion about a statement he made in an investor meeting where he was supposed to get people listening excited about the companies future prospects. It's gonna be full of these kinds of statements.

Then I get you riding in on your white horse telling me it's not funny. Well, guy, I never said it was. I said he was joking because people were acting like he was making a statement of fact when he clearly wasn't.

Now go try this ethug nonsense somewhere else. You ruin discourse when you behave like this. If you disagreed with me, you could have started with all your articles, or maybe even brought up that people were sleeping in the offices at Twitter, but instead, you chose the path of attacking the word "joke".

You hate to see it...

If you disagreed with me, you could have started with all your articles, or maybe even brought up that people were sleeping in the offices at Twitter, but instead, you chose the path of attacking the word โ€œjokeโ€.

How else should I have voiced my opinion other than the way I did? You said that Musk was probably joking and I said that it shouldn't be taken lightly. All my follow up responses were to raise the concern that Musk has done this before and it had not been a joke then. How else should I have voiced the concern? Should I write an article about all the wrong things Musk has done and respond with it every time his name comes up? My original response was in context and so was all the others that followed up. I have not done any arguments in bad faith nor have I have mentioned or challenged anything other than your expressed opinion. But you did on multiple occasions attack me rather than what I said, please go through them again.

Now go try this ethug nonsense somewhere else.

Why? seeing that this is c/workreform this is the most relevant place to bring it up in my opinion.
